Dr. Abdul Hadi was a high school English teacher for 6 years in Pekanbaru, Indonesia before joining the Department of English Education at Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University of Riau in 2000. He was awarded with the Fulbright scholarship in 2004 to pursue a Master of Arts degree in English as a Second Language at the University of Arizona, which he completed in 2006. With the full support of the Australian Development Scholarship, he recently completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in the area of curriculum for pre-service English teacher education at the University of Sydney, Australia. Dr. Hadi is very passionate about research and development of teacher education in Indonesia. He has been involved in foreign language teaching and teacher education in the country for more than 15 years. At Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University, He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in foreign language teaching pedagogy, curriculum development, and course design. He is also a member of Australian Applied Linguistics Association (AALA), Australian Association of Research in Education (AARE), and the Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language in Indonesia (TEFLIN). Dr. Hadi has presented his work in conferences both nationally and internationally. His current research focuses on exploring and designing Islamically-integrated learning experiences that support pre-service teachers’ ongoing professional development in their future teaching career.
